Hello, Dot

About

"Hello, Dot" is a mixed reality experience app that launched in May 2024, starting with the Meta Quest 3 version.

The Apple Vision Pro version of "Hello, Dot" offers the same interactive experience as the Meta Quest 3 version, allowing users to engage with the Peridot character (Dot) through various actions while remaining in the real world.

Examples of what you can do in "Hello, Dot" for Apple Vision Pro

・Extend your palm, and Dot will come closer.

・Point with your index finger, and Dot will walk in that direction.

・Pinch Dot’s ears, hands, or feet, or even hold Dot in your arms.

Execution

For the Apple Vision Pro version of "Hello, Dot", MESON optimized shaders to seamlessly blend Dot with the high-resolution real-world view provided by Apple Vision Pro's cameras. This enhancement creates a natural representation of Dot as if it truly exists in physical space.

Additionally, MESON reimplemented the entire hand-tracking system to fully support Apple Vision Pro’s hand-tracking technology. As a result, users can hold Dot and interact through intuitive hand gestures, just like in the Meta Quest 3 version.

▼ Comment from Niantic VP, Masashi Kawashima

We are delighted that "Hello, Dot" is now available on Apple Vision Pro, thanks to our incredible partnership with MESON. This groundbreaking device enables a more realistic interaction with Peridot, bringing AR pets closer to everyday life.

At Niantic, we strive to push AR technology forward, connecting people and creating engaging experiences. "Hello, Dot" is a significant step toward realizing this vision and demonstrates the potential of integrating AR companions into our daily lives.

We hope even more users can enjoy a glimpse into the future and immerse themselves in the world of Peridot through this app.
