About
SAINT RAY" is a smartphone-based AR application exhibited at the AR event "SAINT RAY - Sacred Light 'SAINT RAY' brings us to the world of digital healing" conducted by NTT Docomo, Odakyu Electric Railway and Odakyu Department Store.
Using cutting-edge AR technology, a digital healing space with nature motifs was superimposed to provide customers with a new purchasing experience in a physical store, where they could encounter attractive products while being healed.
Background
This project was initiated with NTT DOCOMO to verify the effectiveness of AR technology in attracting customers to actual stores and supporting their purchasing. With the growth of Internet purchases due to the spread of the new coronavirus, commercial facilities are required to change from traditional goods sales to "experience-oriented" stores, where customers enjoy visiting the store and spend more time in the store.
Ray was exhibited at an event at Odakyu Department Store, where XR aimed to make the time spent in the store more enjoyable and comfortable by combining the real store with a digital experience.
Execution
At SAINT RAY, visitors can easily and instantly try on a variety of shoes actually sold at Hulk Sports digitally using a smartphone loaned at the exhibition booth, and enjoy a moment of healing in the digital healing world spreading in the space. The shoes are worn in a natural way by detecting the feet of visitors using a smartphone camera and making full use of AR.
In addition, a world based on the motif of an "ice planet" was created in the store's interior space, where visitors can see ice floors spreading all over the floor and crystals changing into various colors, creating a relaxing experience surrounded by a fantastic atmosphere. To achieve this, we paid particular attention to spatial recognition technology and design aspects to realize the world view.
Results
The event "SAINT RAY - Sacred Light 'Sun Ray' brings us to the world of digital healing isana" was held from December 8, 2021 (Wednesday) to December 14, 2021 (Wednesday). The event received a high response, with customers fully enjoying the service, from the digital shoes successfully clad to the size of visitors' feet to the design of the world where they could enjoy the "Planet of Ice".
