About

This project began as an initiative to enhance the value of Ebisu Garden Place, owned by Sapporo Real Estate, through XR technology. The goal was to develop an XR system that companies interested in showcasing at Ebisu Garden Place would find valuable, with the long-term vision of expanding this system throughout the entire Ebisu area to create a unified platform. As part of this effort, XR content was developed in conjunction with "Baccarat ETERNAL LIGHTS – The Shape of Joy," an event organized by Sapporo Real Estate Development Co., Ltd., and Baccarat Pacific K.K, held at Ebisu Garden Place.

Background

From November 12, 2022 (Saturday) to January 9, 2023 (Monday, holiday), "Baccarat ETERNAL LIGHTS - Forms of Joy," with the theme "Reunion is in front of the light," was held at Ebisu Garden Place. This event is held every winter by Baccarat, which continues to inherit 250 years of tradition and innovation, and Ebisu Garden Place. It marks the 23rd edition, illuminating the city of Ebisu with the light of chandeliers.

For this event, we conducted content development deployed at this event using the XR technology held by MESON. Additionally, as part of a long-term roadmap, development was also aimed at AR platforming the entire Ebisu Garden Place.

Execution

At MESON, we proposed and developed "Through the Lens," a digital experience that enhances vision with the theme of "amplifying sensations." Using Instagram's SPARK AR, we apply a "crystal" filter to detected individuals, turning those captured by the camera into a backdrop that illuminates the Garden Place, allowing for a more immersive experience of vibrant colors.

We designed the evolved real location, compatible with digital twins, with the concept of being a "sensory amplification device." Even in open spaces, we aimed to design a mechanism that allows immersion from various locations and angles.

Through the Lens, we crafted the following story and proceeded with development: High transparency, glitter, and clear beautiful sound. During the journey towards the tower singing of eternal brilliance, they encountered a mysterious lens. Through that lens, they saw a world where curvature overlapped, and a world enveloped in glitter unfolded.
