    PORTAL BY JOSEPH is an AR fashion show, an immersive fashion experience of interacting with fashion models, items and ensembles with iPAD. It features British fashion brand JOSEPH's a/w collection. During the summer of 2019, the experience was exhibited at two JOSEPH stores at GINZA SIX and TOKYO MIDTOWN.

    MESON was committed to designing the physical environment to enhance the quality of the immersive PORTAL experience. Behind the AR marker wall, there was a space for storing devices. The space played a role in protecting devices and other installations and improving safety of users. We believe designing a space based on store requirements is an important factor that ensures a comfortable experience of AR.

    We designed and decorated the physical space of JOSEPH GINZA SIX Store. Because the two JOSEPH stores have different store concepts especially in terms of their interior design, we carefully designed and built the experience area to maximize the quality of the store environment and the user experience.

    At JOSEPH GINZA SIX Store, we used digital dots as a motif. The dots gave impression of digitally mapping the store from the entrance of the store. The consideration of customer experience flow is key to make an entry point to immersive experience.

  • CONCEPT

    Decoration paper used at JOSEPH GINZA SIX Store for the dots is crafted by Japanese artisans and made of a collection of high quality paper. The paper decoration and the floor decoration told messages from JOSEPH. JOSEPH's brand philosophy and design concepts appeared to immerse the users in the experience and give them a chance to learn JOSEPH as a fashion brand with rich stories.

    Although conveniency and price are seen as major factors of shopping experience due to the rise of online commerce, fashion is expressed as "wearing philosophy" and is originally a highly intellectual activity and a symbol of culture. We believe that more and more people will enjoy interacting with fashion and learning philosophies of fashion brands. This is why we are passionate about energizing fashion brands with AR technology.
